Over the weekend, the Muslim community has celebrated Hari Raya and in conjunction with that, green packets are usually prepared to give out to children and the elderly. Just recently, a Malaysian boy has gone viral on TikTok for giving away duit Raya to his classmates.
Adorable 7yo kid from Penang gives out duit Raya to his classmates
In the viral video posted by username aashrafaffendii that garnered over 1.3million views, the boy was seen giving out a stack of green packets to his classmates. His classmates were seen queuing up while he slowly passed the each of them a green packet. While he was making his rounds making sure that his classmates all get a green packet each, he would exchange salam with them.
In Malay custom as a formal greeting, the younger individual would bow their heads and place the recipient’s hand onto their forehead. This gesture is widely practiced amongst the community, showcasing their culture and customs.
Speaking to Wau Post, his parents have revealed that the kid’s name is Muhammad Amsyar, and he is 7 this year. Amsyar’s parents have revealed that he is the second child of their family and they’ve found that his exchange with his classmates absolutely wholesome.
In a separate video posted, Amsyar’s parents also shared that he gave green packets to his female classmates, but was reserved and shy when it came to them, making it an adorable scene to witness.
