Whether it be in global entertainment, academics, or competitive sports, Malaysia has never been short of genuine talents that have put the country on the map. And a 17-year-old teen from Pahang is now looking to add another feather to the nation’s proverbial cap with his own athletic prowess.
Speech & hearing impaired 17yo M’sian teen will be playing in a futsal match at Iran
As shared by local Facebook community page I <3 Pahang, Kuantan born and raised Amar has been selected to represent the country in the upcoming Deaf International Football Association’s Deaf Futsal World Cup U21 2023, which is slated to be held in Iran this year.
“Congratulations Amar, a 17-year-old teenager who is born and raised in Kuantan, Pahang. Amar suffers from hearing impairment but that didn’t stop him from unleashing his potential as he will be representing Malaysia in the DIFA DEAF FUTSAL WORLDCUP U21 2023.”
The post also explains that Amar and his family are currently receiving financial aid contributions from the Pahang Council of Religion of Islam and Malay Customs, adding that both his parents also suffer from hearing and speech impairments as well.
In spite of his impediments, Amar has proven to be a ferocious athlete on the playing field and has managed to score a total of 20 goals to date while participating in the SEA Games back in 2021, as well as the previous DIFA World Cup Under-21.
