It goes without saying that in instances of disputes, it’s always better to turn to diplomacy instead of violence for the sake of resolving matters. After all in most cases, violence has only ever served to further inflame a conflict instead of assuaging it.
For one group, this proved to be a lesson that they had to learn the hard way after they were detained in connection with a brawl that has since gone viral over the local social media space.
Group of 11 detained by PDRM after breaking out in a fight
As reported by local newspaper Sinar Harian, as many as 11 local men were arrested for their involvement in a fight that occurred between a food delivery rider and a few other individuals. According to Batu Pahat region Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Ismail Dollah, the suspects were aged between 17 to 62 years old.
“At 2.30pm on Monday, the Batu Pahat District Police Headquarters (IPD) received a report stating that there had been a fight between the complainant and his family members and a food delivery rider at a rural inn in Sri Gading, Batu Pahat.”
The food delivery rider had also lodged a report in relation to the incident, with both complainants sustaining injuries to their bodies as well as head. He adds that the case will now be probed under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting, with the true cause behind the incident still under investigation.
Members of the public are advised against making any speculations in regards to the case, as it could potentially affect the ongoing police investigation.
The one minute and three second long video that was first uploaded to Twitter showed a tense verbal altercation between a bald man wearing red and a food delivery rider. Things rapidly escalated when the food delivery rider landed a punch onto the bald man’s head, causing him to recoil in pain.
This led to the food delivery rider being beaten up by a group of other men that were also dressed in red, when a woman in grey that is believed to be the delivery rider’s wife dove in to shield him from their blows.
