M’sian teachers uses sign language to interpret the “KeranaMu” song during school assembly!

August is the national month of Malaysia. With that said, plenty of schools have started celebrations during their assemblies, hoping to instill patriotism into the younger generation, as well as teaching them the importance of loving and celebrating your own country. In a school located in Kuala Lumpur, two Malaysian teachers have caught the attention of many, as they were seen using sign language to interpret the famous “KeranaMu” song!

According to a video posted by Kausar Khairuddin, he and his colleague was seen celebrating the national month of Malaysia with their students, during the school assembly. The students were seen waving their flags, while singing along to the famous song “KeranaMu”. As the familiar tunes played through the speakers, Kausar and his colleague began singing along to it, while interpreting it using sign language.

Speaking to Wau Post, Kausar revealed that he is a teacher that was newly posted to SMK Dato Ibrahim Yaakob in Kuala Lumpur. Hailing from Kelantan, the outgoing teacher managed to pick up sign language while he was studying in UKM at Kelantan.

“I also learned a lot from the deaf community. They helped me practice my sign language”, he said.

When asked about his thoughts on sign language, the man answered saying that he believes that sign language is incredibly beneficial towards the society in general. On top of being more inclusive, sign language could also help bridge any communication barriers with the community who suffers from hearing disabilities.

As the video was posted onto TikTok, it has garnered over 500k views with plenty of netizens commenting on the post. Here’s what some of them said:
