Growing up, we often build long-lasting friendships with those that we share a classroom with over the years of being in school. And that comes as no surprise given the formative memories that we often build with our best buddies, whether it be teenage puppy love crushes or sleepovers at each other’s homes cramming for SPM, to the nerve-wracking moments of collecting examination results together.
But as our adolescent years come to an end, so does our time with some of our most treasured friends as we split ways to pursue all manner of different journeys in university and beyond.
M’sian shares bittersweet moment bidding his friends goodbye when they leave to study overseas
And while many of those instances are relegated into the recesses of our memories, one netizen recently managed to capture the very essence of that bittersweet feeling in a video that was uploaded to his TikTok account. Last Tuesday, user @igobymukhreez took to sharing a clip of how he bid his friends farewell as they headed down to the Departure halls of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport to begin their journey studying overseas.
The lucky students, who can be seen in their uniforms, waved at their fellow coursemates who stood around from above to cheer them on as they entered the next major chapter in their lives.
“When ‘I want to study overseas man’ talkings in high school become a reality,” Muhkreez wrote in his caption.
Amassing over 757,900 views as of writing, the clip has since gone viral among local social media circles, with many local students sending their well wishes to those who were granted with the privilege of studying abroad, while hoping that they may be able to do so themselves.
“Since Form 2 I always cried watching vlogs of people who get to study overseas. Now I’m doing my SPM. May Allah SWT grant me the same opportunity.”
“Until today I still love watching videos and vlogs of people studying overseas, even though I know I won’t get the chance to do so. Watching their videos still makes me happy.”
As for Muhkreez himself, he has revealed in a subsequent video that he has manage to land himself a number of offers from UK-based universities after applying through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). Among them include the University College of London (UCL), the University of Manchester, as well as King’s College London.
Congratulations Muhkreez! Here’s to hoping that you’ll be able to turn your ambitions into reality by pursuing your tertiary education overseas!
