Coral reefs are diverse underwater ecosystems held together by calcium carbonate structures secreted by corals. These reefs are vital to marine life, providing habitat, food, and breeding grounds for numerous species. In an attempt to rehabilitate the growth of coral reefs in Pulau Tioman, an LRT replica coach has been submerged into the waters!

Being the first island to have a replica of an LRT coach submerged into waters, a significant milestone has been achieved and is now recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records! Officiating the ceremony was The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
In his royal address, Al-Sultan Abdullah believes that the initiatives taken by ayasan Al-Sultan Abdullah (YASA) would impact the island’s tourism sector positively.
“I hope that this artificial reef can serve as an additional attraction site for diving enthusiasts”, said the Pahang Sultan. On top of that, the Pahang Sultan also shared his hope towards this initiative, hoping that it can help preserve and rehabilitate the marine system in Pulau Tioman.
Taking a closer look at the site, frequent diver Adzlan Nazir has explored the submerged coach, showcasing a glimpse of the world that is underwaters. In his caption he wrote,
“Guys, officially we have a NEW dive site!! The first LRT Coach Reef in Malaysia! Come over and explore it with us!!”
Other than stunning waterfalls and beautiful hiking trails, those who plan to visit Pulau Tioman can now add a new destination in their bucket list!
