Public servants are sworn to a life of duty to serve the public in whatever capacity they are able to in their line of work. However, it’s worth noting that everyone is encouraged to lend a helping hand when they can, especially when they see someone in need. In a recent event, a police officer was seen tending to an old makcik who was left at the station.

In the video, lance corporal Azirol Othman from IPD Seremban was seen slowly aiding the old woman who was sitting outside into the station. Speaking to Wau Post, Azirol revealed that he was actually on break when he stumbled upon the old woman. After checking with one of his colleagues, he was told that the makcik was left at the station.
“We didn’t get to speak to the person who dropped her here, we’re not sure if they’re her family members”, he said.
As he tried to talk to old woman, he realised that she was showing signs of dementia and couldn’t answer any of his questions properly. Seeing that the weather was hot, Azirol then offered to assist her into the station to rest. Seeing that she was left at the station, the kind officer then went above and beyond, by assisting her with the officer in duty, ensuring that she was in safe hands.
Recalling the incident, the police officer also shared that he felt bad for the woman as she could barely walk and had to use a cane to assist her.
“Please take care of the elderly, especially if they’re your parents”, he mentioned.
His commendable actions have since earned praises from netizens and here’s what some of them said:
“The best.”
“We should all respect the elderly as if they’re our parents.”
