After over 18 years serving in the community as a teacher, this woman has decided to take it up a notch by setting up her own non-profit organisation, empowering over 50 women.
Former M’sian teacher decides to set up NGO to help others
According to local newspaper Harian Metro, Ismaniza Fahida, better known as Cik Puan Gojes, is a 41-year-old woman who went viral last year, for treating 30 of her students to lunch at a fast-food restaurant. Speaking to the Malay daily, the woman shared that the reason why she had decided to cut her time short as an educator was because she wanted to help others in a different way.
“I understand the struggles and I want to help”, she said.
Throughout the years of teaching, Ismaniza shared that she has seen many underprivileged children and wanted to do more to help those who are in need. When asked about her most memorable case, she revealed that it was when she helped a 6-year-old child build a new house.
“The 6-year-old boy named Basir was tasked to take care of his paralysed mother, following his father’s death”, said Ismaniza.
Rose to success, despite the difficulties faced
Speaking from her own experience, Ismaniza revealed that she actually came from a financially challenged background. Prior to becoming a teacher, she recalled how she would help her mother sell pastries in hopes of supporting her family. However, despite the background she was in, she managed to rise up from her challenges, earning her success.
While working on her non-profit organisation, Ismaniza have also founded a cosmetic brand which took off successfully, to which she is planning to expand globally. And thankfully, her efforts did not go unnoticed as she was nominated and crowned as Woman Icon of Malaysia 2022!
“I will continue to focus on growing my brand and expanding it globally, so I can provide more financial aid to those who are in need”, she said.
You’re definitely an inspiration, Ismaniza, all the best in your future endeavours!
