Nestled in one of the busiest streets in Kuala Lumpur, a family run art supply store has finally come to a bittersweet decision to close their doors for good, leaving only nothing but sweet nostalgic memories.
Iconic art supply shop in Petaling Street bids goodbye
Established back in 1943, the Lian family has opened many creative doors to those who had a passion for art. From acrylic paint to drawing blocks, colour pencils and many more, you’re bound to find what you need. In a short yet touching post by their granddaughter, YKwan Lau, she shared the news that the 81-year-old business will be closing down.
Sharing more details in the comments section, YKwan Lau mentioned that the store is currently managed by her uncle. After decades of operating, the uncle has decided to retire, hence the closure of the shop. In her post she wrote,
“Hi all, my grandparent’s (Lian Family) art supply shop Nanyang Art Supplies at Petaling Street will be closing down and there will be closure sale on 20th & 21st July 2024 with 75% off. Those who are interested can grab something there.”
Posting it onto her social media, many netizens have quickly picked up on the news and to date, there has been over 1,500 shares. Looking at the comments, here’s what some of them have to say:
Truly a bittersweet moment for the family, and those who have patronised them over the years. Thank you for supplying so much art, joy and passion, especially to those who aspire to be artists. If you wish to show your support for their grand closure sale visit them at:
