As the cost of living rises, the government has been actively seeking for ways to help combat the struggles of the locals. With that said, one of the initiatives that has been rolled out by the ministry of Domestic Trade and Living cost is the Menu Rahmah initiative. The Menu Rahmah initiative aims to help the locals, especially those who are struggling to afford a meal for themselves.

KFC and Pizza Hut jumps in on the Menu Rahmah wagon, offering affordable meals

According to local newspaper Malay Mail, it was reported that both KFC and Pizza Hut are amongst the most popular fast-food joints in Malaysia. With both joints operated by QSR Brands (M) Holdings, the minister of Domestic Trade and Living Cost, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub has expressed that the participation of both the brands is a sign that the Menu Rahmah Initiative is a success.

“I’m thrilled to see that we managed to rope in another two gigantic brands into supporting our initiative”, he said.

As the fast-food joints launch the Menu Rahmah launch, the locals can expect to purchase a RM5 meal from KFC that consists of a piece of Kentucky Fried Chicken, a warm and soft butterscotch bun and a bottle of mineral water. Pizza Hut’s Menu Rahmah would consist of a personal pizza and a bottle of mineral water for RM5.

Sales have been increasing for food operators

Since the roll out of the Menu Rahmah initiative back in January, Salahuddin revealed that food operators that are participating in the initiative have been seeing an increase in sales that are close to 30%. While many food operators who offers the Menu Rahmah menu as a ‘crowd puller’, it’s undeniable that the increase of volume in sales have become a key source of revenue.

Salahuddin also said that since the launch of the initiative, 15,000 eateries nationwide have participated in the programme and fast forward to today, over 30,000 eateries are now taking part in the Menu Rahmah initiative, further proving that the initiative is a success.
