Working in the sales field requires a combination of determination, grit, and charm. Employees are typically paid based upon a commission structure, whereby they are offered a relatively low base pay, but earn a cut of the profits from every sale that they successfully bring into their company.
But recently, a dispute over commission payouts has allegedly led a man to go rogue and take things into his own hands, as reported by local newspaper China Press.
Former employee at Kajang car dealership holds woman at knife point
A video that has been circulating around the internet has shown that a woman, later identified as one of the staffs working at the car dealership in Kajang, was held at knife point by a man who allegedly was a former employee with the company.
Another man who happened to wander into the showroom saw the situation and attempted to diffuse the situation by speaking to the assailant.
But as the man got closer, the assailant only grew more agitated and threatened to hurt the woman. However, the man did not give up despite the assailant’s threat and continued talking to him, not letting his gaze off the knife. Then, as the assailant turned his head, the man bravely went up and grabbed the knife with his bare hands, causing the assailant drop the knife.
Three other men then came running in to help hold the assailant down while the woman who was held in captive quickly picked up the knife and ran out of the showroom, throwing it far away. After the assailant was incapacitated, the authorities were alerted and he was subsequently detained by the police.
Man has been detained, tested positive for drug use
Initial investigations have revealed that the 39-year-old man was a disgruntled former employee who has allegedly yet to receive his commission payout from his ex-company. While holding the woman in captive, he attempted to hold another man in captive but failed.
One other individual was injured after trying to wrestle the knife from the assailant the first time, but failed to do so.
The 29-year-old woman who was held captive has lodged a report against the assailant, and further investigations have revealed that the suspect tested positive for drug usage. The ordeal took place last Saturday (March 18th).
The man will be detained until March 22 and the matter will be further investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing voluntary hurt and Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
